Writing Minor

Minor Requirements

A minor in writing consists of 18 semester hours, including:

ENGL 208	Creative Writing	3
COMM 251	Newswriting	3

one of the following:

ENGL 302	Advanced Writing	3
ENGL 305	E-Rhetoric and Writing	3
ENGL 306	E-Literature and Writing	3

plus three additional courses from:

ENGL 202	Writing and Literature	3
ENGL 208	Creative Writing	3
ENGL 272	Introduction to Technical Communication	3
ENGL 282	Introduction to Writing for the Sciences	3
ENGL 301	Project Management and Advanced Topics in Technical Communication	3
ENGL 302	Advanced Writing	3
ENGL 305	E-Rhetoric and Writing	3
ENGL 306	E-Literature and Writing	3
ENGL 308	Advanced Creative Writing	3
ENGL 345	Processes and Teaching of Writing	3
COMM 271	Non-Print Media Writing	3
COMM 351	Public Relations Writing	3
COMM 352	Feature Writing	3
COMM 370	Advanced Newspractice	3

Students majoring in any area of the University may elect to take a minor in writing in order to develop their ability to write clearly (and to highlight this fact for potential employers).
