EDUC 367 Health and Physical Education Method
This course is part of the methods field experience (junior level) and should be scheduled with
EDUC 302,
EDUC 303,
EDUC 354, and
EDUC 415. Methods and materials that can be utilized in a school health physical education program, K-12, will be examined, practiced, and assessed. Consideration will be given to the planning, organization, and administration of age and developmentally appropriate health and physical education. Curriculum scope and sequence will include the evolution of elementary and secondary physical education programs, introductory activities, fitness development, fundamental skills and developmental stages, educational movement, rhythmic activities, games of low organization, tumbling and gymnastics, and lead-up games to team sports. Health and wellness topics will focus on holistic components of physical, mental, and social health and be embedded within the physical education units.
