Student Health Insurance

The University of Findlay (UF) cares about the health and well-being of its students. UF is pleased to announce our partnership with Gallagher Student Health (GSH) beginning with the 2025-26 academic year. GSH representatives will assist us with the management of the student health insurance plan and the administration of the waiver and enrollment process. All full-time students (9 credit hours for graduate and 12 credit hours for undergraduate), and health professions students without regard to course load*, are required to enroll in the student health insurance plan unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.

UF has contracted with Anthem BlueCross BlueShield of Ohio (“Anthem’”) to provide an insurance policy for students who lack valid coverage. The University requires students to annually (each year):

Enroll in the student health insurance plan

OR

Waive with valid alternative insurance coverage

Valid Coverage: In order to waive the University of Findlay-sponsored Student Insurance Plan, and have the related charge removed from their billing statement, students’ alternate coverage must:

  1. Satisfy Ohio and Federal (Affordable Care Act) minimum benefit requirements, and
  2. Be in effect for the full period for which they will attend classes during the school year, and
  3. Be locally effective (out-of-state Medicaid is not valid coverage), and
  4. Be underwritten by a U.S. Domestic insurance carrier (a carrier that is based, licensed & operating in the U.S.).

Students who take no action will automatically be enrolled in the student health insurance plan after the waiver deadline.

Policy information, policy rates, links to either enroll or waive, and associated deadlines will be available on Gallagher’s Student Health Insurance webpage: https://gallagherstudent.com/findlay.

Please note, Safety & Wellness manages the Student Health Insurance process. Policy information, policy rates, and the links to either enroll or waive will become available to UF students annually in late spring of each year.
