EDUC 385 Science Teaching for Grades 4 & 5
This course delivers specific content and concepts as well as pedagogy for science teaching at the 4th and 5th grade level. Current practices and innovation focusing on science content and best practice pedagogy in grades four and five as well the Ohio New Learning Standards for Science levels will be examined. Teaching methods and practices that encourage the development of higher order thinking skills will be stressed. Students will construct and design instructional strategies for content and performance standards at the fourth and fifth grade levels in a two-week integrated, multi-disciplinary unit. Hands-on activities, inquiry and discovery-based practices will be shared and modeled.

Students must be early childhood majors who have completed the junior block (EDUC 371, EDUC 372, EDUC 373, and EDUC 415)
