MBA 680 Financial Reporting and Analysis
This course overviews the financial reporting environment, key financial statements, the use of financial statements, interpretation and quality issues of financial data, and some accounting issues related to accrual and cash basis and taxes. It is also intended to develop an analytical framework for using financial statement analysis to evaluate a firm’s current and future business operations and financial conditions. It addresses in detail how to analyze financial statements prospectively to forecast and value firms and equities by applying modern accounting and finance-based theories, models and skills covered in preceding courses. Accordingly, this course places an emphasis with a wide variety of cases, in-class exercises and a group/individual project, all involving comprehensive analyses of publicly traded companies.
