ATTR 520 General Medical Conditions and Interventions

This course covers the recognition, evaluation, management and prevention of the most common medical conditions that affect athletic participation. Emphasis will be placed on the appropriate history, physical exam and indications for referral. It also covers common interventions for medical conditions, including the medications most commonly encountered in the practice of athletic training. This will include categories of drugs, generic and trade names of common drugs, effects and precautions for common drugs, drug-drug interactions and how various drugs affect the patient response to activity, exercise and other therapeutic interventions. In addition to the lecture component, observation with college health services is required.
